Today was Mikayla's 2nd grade field trip to the Apple Orchard. I had signed up to drive and since Monday's are Jeff's day off, I convinced him to go along. As you can see by a couple pics he had a great time. The picture of him on the ground was of him falling while playing tag and accidentally "taking down" Miks classmate Ben. I wish that arm wasn't in the way...it would be such a cute picture! We had a great time, with beautiful weather.
This blog post is just because I miss my girls! I've only been away for 1.5 days now and I really miss them. The above picture is of us at the Herbert Hoover Presidental Museum a while back this summer. I talked to the girls last night, Haley and Jenna did really well. (I was worried about Jenna actually-she was NOT happy that I was leaving!) Mikayla cried on the phone and really wanted me to come home. I said I couldn't come home and so then she got on the grandma kick and wanted grandma soooo bad. Sooooo I arranged for grandma to pick up H and M from school today (after she got off work) and spend some time with them. That little change in the itinerary involved contacting 4 people. with emails and several phone calls..Mik's teacher, Rachael, Steph-the mom who was watching Haley until school got out, Lora-the mom that was going to get H. from Steph and now wasn't going to. There is no "quick change" in the plans when mom is away, it is all long and involved. I think its all fixed for today though.
Jeff's dad was here this week helping Jeff do odd jobs around the house, they spent a few hours a couple days fishing. On Sat. they took the girls. Jenna isn't in any of these pics but she was fishing too. She had to go to guitar lessons before I got to the fishing hole with the camera. It is a long story and an even longer day of getting everyone the different places they needed to go throughout the day. Jeff's mom, and sister Katie, and her husband Ken, came also on Sat. It was a very busy day with tons of running around. 
Iowa vs. Iowa State! There is NO bigger game in the state of Iowa. We had a big party to root on the hawks. There were over 20 people/kids here. There were church people and neighborhood people We had a great time. I won't explain all the pictres as they are basically us sitting around talking/watching the game, or playing fooz (sp?) ball and air hockey. In the bottom row, middle pic, Josh sports his Wisconsin Badger jersey, even though they weren't playing. We just hired his wife, Christy, as our part-time children's pastor. This was their first social function for the church. A comment was made by Angela, "well he must not be worried about making any friends wearing THAT shirt here!!" We forgave him quickly and had a good time.
ing, "look at this treasure mom!" Jeff would just look at me and smile. Her treasures included old ribbons/bows, a wallet, some curler pins and the beautiful plastice plaque that she is holding. She thought that it would look great in my kitchen. Of course I agreed with her! It is now beautifying her room but I am sure that soon it will find its way into my kitchen! She is a riot. I need to find a new hobby for my husband. I must say though that it is something that Jenna and Jeff have really enjoyed doing together as father/daughter, so its worth it. Even if I have a floor full of junk every Wed. night. 
Last Thursday Haley made a kite out of the ribbon she got from the auction treasure box. It's amazing how kids can find something as deemed as "junk" to adults and suddenly, it becomes kite. She tried out her kite but it wasn't quite as windy as she liked, that didn't stop her from enjoying her kite flying time in her pj's.
