Little Hawks Volleyball

Jenna had her first club volleyball game this past Sunday. She played from 8am to 5 pm. It was a long day and I felt guilty for not taking her to church. (Jeff and the younger girls went to church and then came to the tournament) I was going to drive back across town and go to church at 10:30 but the roads were slick and I didn't want to drive all the way to church. (Am I making excuses????---Really...she only has one Sunday tournament that's why we let her play in it, otherwise they are on Saturdays) The team did "just ok." They went 3-5. To their credit, these girls have never played before and some of their opponents were quite good!!!! These 12 year olds can play volleyball. One girl actually has a JUMP SERVE! I didn't serve like some of these 12's until high school! I was amazed all day at their talent. Jenna is at practice right now, and I am sure that the coach has quite the practice planned out for them. I am sure she will be sore tomorrow! She has another all day tournament this coming Saturday about an hour away. I hope they do better!!! They look good in their uniforms anyway!!!! :)

Christmas in January

Last Friday the girls were finally able to have their Christmas concert. It was cancelled 2 times b/c of snow so they had it at 12:30, during the day. I was thankful I was able to take a long lunch. Jenna played the saxaphone, and she had a SOLO, (top 2 pics), she did beautiful on her solo (a verse of a song) The bottom 2 pics are of most of the choir and a close up of Mikki. (Haley's age doesn't sing in the cmas program.)

Roller Skating

This past Thursday night was our friend Rachael's birthday. She chose to go roller skating for her b-day. (She turned 26.) She invited the youth group since she is a leader and lot of friends to go to. We went and had a great time.

My co-workers!

I promised my co-workers I would make them famous this weekend by putting them on my blog! They will be reading this so I have to say nice things about them and about my job! No, really, I have nothing but nice things to say about all of them. They are a great group of people and have made me feel so welcome and needed. We laugh a lot but work hard. I am looking forward to many many years of working with them and getting to know them more. (All except Tara, my boss, who continues to make her boss mad (the company pres.) so I figure she won't be at the company long!) Ha! Just kidding Tara! I am sure that you will hear their names quite often in the coming days/weeks and years.

This weekend was busy. Friday night we didn't do much, Jenna made tacos for supper, so those were done and on the table when I got home. Jeff still wasn't feeling the best with his strep throat. Friday morning Jenna had woken up with a sore throat, we tried to get her to stay home from school but she is hard to keep down so she went and went to bball practice. When I picked her up from practice she said she was pretty miserable. When she woke up with a sore throat, and Haley and Jeff already having strep, we automatically called the "medicine hotline" (aka my sister) and she called in an rx for meds.

On Saturday, we got up and ran some errands and then the kids and I spent most of the day at the church putting together the new phone directory that has been in the works since October. It is sooo nice to get it done and off my plate. Jenna had volleyball practice in the afternoon, she wasn't feeling the best but went anyone. That night our friend Amanda came over and watched the girls while Jeff and I went to my work "winter" party. I was in CR. We enjoyed our time there. Stacy was sick, and I was anxious for Jeff to meet her so that was disappointing. Tara sat with us and Jeff got to meet her and enjoy her humor! She is quite the "character" but Jeff really enjoyed his time. He sat by a man that Jeff deemed as "Larry the Cable guy." You can figure out why he called him that.
There were lots of awards given out and I was hoping that I would get the Presidents Award after working there a whole 10 days, well actually only 9 cause I've already taken a day off being sick. But much to my surprise I didn't win the award! There's always next year! :) Right before they announced the winner I asked Jeff if my hair looked ok cause I just knew I would win it! Oh well!

Today- we had church, then went out for a quick lunch, took a nap and then Jeff and I prepared for the parenting class that we were leading tonight. Tara and Stacy will be mad cause I skipped the weight loss class that they were attending in the afternoon and I told them I "might" go with them. Well, I didn't make it, my nap was calling my name.

I should go now, Jenna is waiting to be tucked into bed. It's 9:30 and so it's late for her. Hope you all are doing well. I will try and post more often from now on, but no promises!

Slacker

Yes, I'm a slacker. It has been a whirlwind week and a 1/2. I began my new job; and here are some things that have happened: I got sick with the stomach flu and actually threw up while driving home from work, in my lunchbox, and then was sick for the next couple days, I missed work on my third day, then went to work on day 4 & 5 still feeling yucky, my mom was in the hospital with chest pains (!), Haley got strep throat...and about a zillion other things that happen normally. This doesn't include the 5-6 basketball practices or games and the 3 volleyball practices, plus guitar lessons and other stuff that happens normally. I can't really say that it has been that great of a time for us. Jeff has had to miss a lot of work, taking care of Haley, snow days/kids off, and then picking them up from school and taking to games and practices. He is sooo behind in work! I think that we are finally settling down now. Jeff has been a trouper though. This week he has cooked 3 crock pot meals: chili, chicken cordon bleu, and pork roast tonight. Tonight when I got home from work he had the table all set fancy with mashed pots, roast, gravy etc and said, "Steve and Sherryl are coming over for supper in 5 mins!" He invited our neighbors over for supper! The girls had a snow day today and she invited them all over to make stamped valentines day cards, so he invited them over for supper. It was soooo nice to sit down to a supper I didn't make!!!!! I swear...food tastes better when you don't make it! He did a WONDERFUL job, it was very very yummy. I was impressed.

I am so behind, I haven't even posted pictures from our vacation yet. They're coming! I can't do it tonight because they are on our laptop that is at the church.

Tomorrow night I have to go to the church right after work to work on the worship folder, Jeff will take Jenna to her bball game that is "away" and then I will have worship team practice. Jeff will then race Jenna back to the church after her game to youth group. I have no idea where the younger two girls will be: with me or Jeff. It will be just kind of where they end up; there they are! (sad!)

I promise I will do better at posting. I pray things settle down more. I really do love my job already. Every day it is something new. Today: regression testing some new computer programs for most of the day and then making files of recipes for a customer on the computer. Tomorrow making 100 binders of these recipes! Each binder will have about 100 pages in it. It will take us a long time. Lots of computer work! I really like it!

Must go and get Jenna to bed. I hope that catches you up a little on our lives. And I hope your lives have been a little smoother than ours lately!

New Job!

I started my new job today. It is at Hawkeye Food Distribution. I am training on their website and then helping hospitals, schools and restaurants plan their menus and figure out cost per serving. That is the short synopsis. I am getting ready to play "Hands Down" with the girls, so can't write long. It was a good day, but I"m exhausted and have brain freeze!
