Heartlands 10K for 10K

Our church, Heartland Community Church, is trying to raise money for a new kitchen that can be utilized by the childcare center housed there, and also the congregation. Those in the picture above ran in a 5k or a 10k and got pledges for the kitchen. I am not sure of the total yet but our goal was 10,000. Haley ran in a 1/2 race for kids. And was the first girl to finish and was 3rd overall. I will post how much we raised as soon as we know.

Family Friends

On our vacation to Williamsburg VA we stopped by some good family friends, the Davis'. Here we are at Bob Evans. As a family joke we had all the kids stick their straws up their noses. L to R. Mikayla, Haley, Curtis, Colin, Kelsey and Jenna.

"So Long, Fair Well!" Talent Show '10

The 7th graders at the end of the year school talent show sang the song "So Long, Fair Well," from the Sound of Music. Haley was the little one that sang the end..."The Sun has gone to bed and so must I." She did soooo good and wasn't nervous at all.

Mikayla's Presentaton Night-3rd Grade

Mikayla had to research and write a paper on a Missionary. She chose John Wesley. Then she had to make a Pop Bottle Person. They had a big presentation night where they had to read their paper. It was a BIG DEAL and she did a great job!

Happy 7th Birthday- March 19th 2010

Haley celebrated her 7th birthday several times. We were in Decatur at Jeff's uncles funeral on her birthday. So we did sneak in a quick party at Monicals Pizza. When we came back we had a party with grandma and grandpa at our house. And finallya couple weeks later we were able to have PJ/Breakfast Party. All the girls came to our house in their pj's. We served them a huge breakfast with frosted muffins for her 'cake.' We had a scavenger hunt where the girls filled their "goodie bags" with the things they found out hidden in the yard, Easter Egg Hunt style since Easter was around the corner. A great time was had by all.

HCC's Daddy Daughter Dance

Our church has just had our 3rd annual Daddy Daughter Dance this past Saturday night. It was so fun to plan and decorate for and attend. We had about 25 dads and LOTS of little girls dressed to the 9's all anxious to dance with their princes, their daddies. Our theme was "Dance with Cinderella" and our last song of the evening was Stephen Curtis Chapmans "Dance with Cinderella." What a tear jerker! We had a dinner this year before the dance, complete with Princess crowns, twinkling stars, magic wands and a disco ball. This is definately a highlight of the year for the girls and I and Jeff too. Jenna planned all the music and was the DJ for the evening. She did an outstanding job!

Mikayla's Christmas Solo Dec. 15th 2009

Mikayla had the one and only solo in the Christmas concert for school this year! She tried out, competing against 2nd, 3rd and 4th grade boys and girls and she got it! She had to sing a couple verses of the song called, "All is Well". It was a beautiful song that I had never heard before, but of course quickly became my favorite song of the night! She had to wait until the very end of the concert, so 1 hour, to sing during the LAST song. I could tell she was very nervous but did a marvelous job. She didn't forget any words, sang on key and sang strong. I was a PROUD mama!

Haley's Snowman

One of Haley's Christmas gifts was a "snowman kit." She loves to make snowmen and always hunted throughout the house for the hat, scarf, eyes, nose etc. It was quite the hunt. So we found a snowman kit with all the needed accessories she could ever need, including the pipe! Here is her first snowman. It turned out quite cute.

Christmas Kitten

Jeff and I surprised the girls and got them a kitten for Christmas. Meet Sammy! He is a cuddly kitten that can't sleep unless he is curled up on your lap. The girls love him....and so do Jeff and I. He is getting very comfortable with us though, as his ornery streak is coming out! As you can tell he loves sleeping with the girls. He is very playful and finds anything around the house to play with, even snow flakes falling outside the window. (top right picture) We are glad he has joined our family. I am sure you will see much more of him as the years go by.
