Daddy Daughter Dance

This past Saturday night was our churches 3rd annual Daddy Daughter Dance. (Yes, we had to rush home from the volleyball tourney!)The theme was Butterfly Kisses. It was so nice this year because I barely had to do anything to plan it!!!! I planned it the past 2 years and then this year passed it off. The committee did a GREAT job, better than I could do and the church was decorated beautifully with a disco ball, hanging butterflies and lots of tulle and Christmas lights. There was fun music and lots of food.

Haley and Mikayla thoroughly enjoyed dancing with their dad. There was a little girl there, about 2, that came close to Jeff and when Jeff tried to dance grab her hand and dance with her too Haley didn't like it. She said to her and him, This is a DADDY DAUGHTER DANCE!- You are only supposed to dance with ME!" Jeff got the message loud and clear and only danced with her and Mik from then on.

They had so much fun as you can tell by the pictures! Jenna is too old as the age of the dance cuts off after 4th grade but she enjoyed going (in her stinking volleyball sweatsuit) and watching and eating.

Volleyball Tournament

Jenna had another volleyball tournament last Saturday. It was nice that it was here in town. We had to be there at 7:30though, so it was still an EARLY Saturday! They played well in the morning...got into the championship bracket but then lost the first round. They had to sit around for about 2 hours between games and so they got "cold."
(Jenna is sitting beside me and she says that they were a "really, really, really good team!)

During the day, the popcorn machine set off the fire alarm so the firemen had to come. Haley wanted her picture in front of the truck. Jenna's coach, is telling the firemen that it was just the popcorn machine. It was quite exciting, but slowed our day down.

Jenna has one more tournament this coming Saturday. She then had Regionals, a 2 day-Saturday/Sunday tournament the first weekend in April in Des Moines.

My house is reflecting all these Saturdays spent watching volleyball and not cleaning!

Haley's 6th Birthday

Haley celebrated her 6th birthday last Thursday the 19th. She had a party on Wed. night at mom and dad's and all those pictures are on my mom's camera. For her party we went bowling and putt-putting. We had a great time. We then went to Quiz-no's for supper. Jenna then had to go to youth group. After youth group we came home and had cake (that Jenna made after school) and then she opened her presents. She got Moon Sand, a soccer ball and also a soccer net. She has said many times that she really wants to play soccer. We wanted her to play t-ball this summer but she is not the least bit interested in that, and says she only wants to play soccer. She is more the 'active' type and so I do think that t-ball would be too slow for her. She would be the one picking dandelions in the outfield cause she is so bored. Soccer would be constant action...more her style.

I can't believe that my baby is 6 years old!!!

Mom's Magic Hands

Haley has been sick. She has had a fever for several days now. Yesterday afternoon I asked her, "Haley do you think you still have a fever?" (Meaning, do you still feel really sick.) She put her hands on her forehead and than said, "I don't know mom, I can't tell. You're the one with the 'magic hands'! Use YOUR hands to tell if I have a fever." How true is this! Moms hands can heal and diagnose!

Wacky Hair

Haley woke up on this morning with some wacky hair. We laughed at the breakfast table. She obviously slept on one side of her head all night long.

Little Hawk Volleyball

Here are (finally) some pictures of Jenna's last volleyball tournamet, last weekend. They got 1st place in the "silver" division, they missed being in the "gold" division by 1 point (point spread). It was disappointing. They got medals but they should have been in the upper level play after the preliminary rounds. Jeff's family came to bring us the car, and so they enjoyed watching her play. We bought Haley a cheerleading outfit for her Valentine's Day present, in the colors of Jenna's team. She and Jeff enjoy getting out on the floor and doing cheers, and they even did a pyramid!
